Sisal: A plant fiber harvested from the mature leaves of the agave sisalana plant. The fiber is harvested and then dried and baled by hand. This process does not use any chemicals or pesticides in production.
Jute: A fiber that comes from the skin, bast and stem of the jute plant. Jute matures and is harvested in about 4 months then soaked in water for nearly a month before being stripped and hung to dry for three days. Jute is a Grown Green fiber that is free from pollution and completely biodegradable.
Coir: The skin of a coconut! The ripe fruit is harvested and husked. The fiber is cleaned, dried and spun into spools to be used as yarn.
Seagrass: A plant fiber from thick, rigid reeds that are non-porous and smooth to the touch. The reeds are also harvested, dried and turned into yarns. Sea grass is not dyed and comes in its natural color which will naturally change with age.
Wool: The warm coat of sheep, known to be luxurious and soft to the touch. Wool is naturally durable, renewable and biodegradable.
Many of Fibreworks products contain not only natural fiber carpeting materials but natural carpet backings. Some of the commonly used backings include jute, natural latex, and natural rubber from the Havea rubber tree. Fibreworks also allows clients to design their own rugs!
