Kitchen Flooring Idea: Bamboo

Are you considering options for your kitchen flooring? Have you thought about bamboo? There are a number of benefits to this eco-friendly material in your kitchen. In fact, we just finished installing bamboo in one of our client’s kitchens (above). Manufactured by Teragren, this strand woven bamboo was installed in planks with various lengths to make the space even more visually appealing. Doesn’t it look great?

Bamboo Kitchen Floors Benefits

As you consider your kitchen floors, keep these bamboo flooring benefits in mind.

Sustainability. Bamboo is one of the most eco-friendly options available. It can be harvested in 4-8 years without damaging the roots and it’s even recyclable and biodegradable, making it extremely renewable. As always, make sure you select a product that’s FSC-certified to ensure safety standards and renewable practices are followed.

Durability. Did you know bamboo flooring outlasts hardwood by 25 percent? The way the strands are naturally woven makes it a very strong option for your kitchen.

Style Choices. Bamboo is available with a lot of options. As HGTV explains, “Bamboo comes in tiles or planks in a variety of sizes, colors, patterns, and textures.” The customizable choices are limitless!

Maintenance. Like hardwood, bamboo is easy to care for with sweeping and dry- or damp-mopping. Bamboo, however, won’t need to be resurfaced and waxed as soon as hardwood.

As you can tell, bamboo kitchen floors could be a great option for your home!
