Meet the Manufacturer: Oshkosh Designs

Designing hardwood flooring with personality is something we discussed last fall, but we didn’t have a chance to highlight one of our favorite manufacturers that creates these beautiful floors: Oshkosh Designs. Whether you want custom medallions, floor décor, parquet wood flooring or something else, Oshkosh Designs is an eco-friendly manufacturer that’s worth considering.

Oshkosh Designs’ artisans are known for skillfully combining natural hardwoods, store, marble, leather, glass and metals like brass, copper and aluminum into beautiful designs. All of their inlays are assembled piece by piece, transforming from as many as 1200 individual pieces into a single element. Oshkosh Designs is happy to work with homeowners to produce any design they’d like in their home, from a family crest to a completely unique creation.

As with so many of our manufacturers, we like working with Oshkosh Designs because of their commitment to sustainability. They make sure they conserve natural resources while still creating quality products:

  • The hardwood inlay and parquet wear layers are 5/16” to conserve hardwood
  • The sawdust from manufacturing is recycled by local farmers
  • They purchase raw materials from certified forestry suppliers
  • Their Artisan Finish™ is water-based to minimize VOC emissions
  • The glass in their products is 85% post-consumer waste

To ensure every product created is high quality, Oshkosh Designs uses the same process for each project. After carefully inspecting the raw materials, they cut and shape the wood or stone to the required specifications. After it’s prepared, it is hand-assembled into patterns. The hand-assembly allows additional checks of the materials, so each homeowner can rest assured the highest quality product possible is produced. After the pattern is assembled, the wood or stone is glued, mounted and/or pre-finished (depending on the order) and sealed inside plastic to protect it from damages during shipping.
