At San Jose Hardwood Floors, we install many floors and are asked about everything from choosing the best materials to hiring the best people for the job. What questions do we hear most often? Here are some of the many common questions we receive from people considering a hardwood floor purchase and/or installation along with their answers from our owner, Butch Kirk:
Do you have workers' compensation and liability insurance?
Yes, all of our workers are covered by workers' compensation and I carry two million dollars in liability insurance, so homeowners can know they will not be liable for injuries, etc. during their hardwood flooring installation.
Do you have supervision onsite?
Yes, there is always a job supervisor onsite with each hardwood flooring installation crew and we have a field supervisor that makes site visits regularly.
Do you have any knowledge about moisture protection?
Yes, I am up-to-date on all new moisture products and moisture installation procedures, and I make sure my staff stays up-to-date, too.
Does your company have dust containment systems (DCS)?
Yes, San Jose Hardwood Floors has the latest and greatest dust containment systems available. They are all HEPA Certifiedcontainment systems.
Can you make distressed floors?
Yes, we sand, bevel, scrape / distress, stain and finish all species of hardwood flooring. We also carry a wide assortment of pre-finished hand scraped / hand distressed hardwood floors.
What is the difference between aluminum oxide finish and oil based finish floors?
Oil based hardwood flooring can be rescreened and refinished, called a screen and refinish.
Aluminum oxide is not a hardwood floor finish in itself, but is an additive for urethane-based finishes. With Aluminum Oxide, you cannot rescreen a floor with the oxide applied to it. Aluminum oxide has to be applied by a machine and not by hand, therefore an oxide floor can only be replaced or completely re-sanded and refinished (not rescreened and recoated).
